MDF Architrave

Architrave moulding is suitable for the frames of windows and doorways. This is fast becoming a replacement for solid timber versions due to its uniformity and tendency to remain straight, not split and warp. It is ideal for new build and refurbishment projects as easily installed for that professional finish, all that is required is the finishing coat, which can be finished with either paint, stain or varnish.

MDF Window Boards

As the name suggest, window boards are used to finish off the inside of window with a decorative flair. Our MFD moisture resistant window boarded is offered in a primed finish with a bullnose edge. It can easily be cut and be mitred to fit around circular bays and ready to be painted with a top coat that gives a professional finish, which suits your home interior. MDF is dimensionally stable with no knots, warps or defects therefore having advantages over timber options.

Mouldings

Lawsons are proud of our substantial range of stock, which exists to suit a variety of building and DIY projects. This stock includes an array of outstanding quality MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) Moisture Resistant Mouldings in a twice primed de-nibbed finish. This allows you to give a room that professional finish, with minimal effort. All that’s required is the finishing coats!

Mouldings are typically fitted for decorative purposes, but can also be used to bridge the gaps around windows and doors to conceal the untidy edge where the wall meets the frame. Since the mouldings are manufactured from MDF, a mixture of virgin wood fibres and resin, they are free from defects such as knots and warps commonly found in softwood versions.

Lintels

Pre-stressed Concrete Lintels are designed to hold masonry loads, evenly distributed roof and timber floor loads, attic truss loads and even concrete floor loads. They are superb value for money and produced with minimum concrete strength of 50N/mm2. What’s more, they offer a minimum of half an hour fire resistance which can be increased by encasing with fire resistant material such as plasterboard.

The range of Steel Lintels is manufactured by Keystone, whom we trust to supply us with reliable, cost effective products. They are made with high grade pre-galvanised steel. Cavity type lintels are insulated with CFC free polystyrene that conforms to BS 13162:2008.

Top Hung or Centre Pivot? Centre pivot windows are opened from the top, with a control bar that can easily be reached even if there’s furniture in front of the window. However, the window does intrude on the interior, so this is often a better option in larger spaces, or where the windows are placed lower down the wall. Top hung windows open from the bottom, so the handle along the base of the window needs to be easily accessible to open comfortably. These are ideal for higher windows without furniture or obstructions in front of them. All of our Velux windows are ideal for humid rooms due to the moisture resistant finish and are made with high quality moulded polyurethane and an insulated timber core, which requires less maintenance than pine.
